development of saffron cultivation in Afghanistan. The very first saffron corms that laid the foundation for the company were imported from Iran through his initiative and efforts. Leveraging Afghanistan’s pristine, untouched lands and the government’s support for saffron farming, he paved the way for the industry’s growth. Since 2002, he has served as the company’s Procurement & Supply Director, maintaining close, personal relationships with hundreds of farmers across the country. His unique efforts in farmer training and in improving cultivation methods have aligned Afghan saffron quality with the demands of the international market, laying the cornerstone for the company’s global success.

Mr. Rahmatullah Rahmati, Co-Founder & CEO of Afghanistan Red Gold Saffron, represents the second generation of his family to carry forward this legacy business with a modern vision. Since 2014, in his role as International Sales & Market Development Director, he has played a pivotal role in introducing Afghan saffron to large-scale, industrial markets worldwide. His dedication and perseverance have made Afghan saffron globally recognized — to the point that in every country where saffron holds a place in the industry, it is closely associated with the name Afghanistan Red Gold Saffron. In 2023, he was appointed as the company’s Chief Executive Officer, and today he is regarded as a launchpad for Afghan saffron exports, leading the company with a global vision rooted in over two decades of experience, a commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainability.
